In the wonderful world of Disney there are characters that we all fear: the villains. As romantic as the heroes, they have marked our childhood and our memories. In fact, when we go to Disneyland Paris and enter the Snow White attraction, what we are most looking forward to is the wicked witch who holds an apple. Another mythical character: Cruella! She is, finally, the heroine of her own movie!
In this film of more than two hours and not recommended for children under 12, we follow the youth of Cruella. Or rather of Estella, because it is under this name that she grows up in a London of the 70s. A time when the city was under the influence of punk rock, and this is felt in the atmosphere of the film.
The character of Cruella (played by Emma Stone) is an orphan. To survive, she hustles on the side, trying to make a name for herself. She attracts the attention of Baroness von Hellman, an eccentric aristocrat. From this encounter, the character of Cruella is born.
The film should appeal to young and old alike, as it respects both the original 1961 version of 101 Dalmatians and the two feature film adaptations of 1996 and 2001. Remember those films with Gérard Depardieu and Glenn Close.
As for its release, it should be simultaneous in theaters and on the Disney+ platform, as was the case for other productions. A little later than in other countries, as a result of a bottleneck in cinema releases. Expected date: June 23, 2021. And, in order not to harm theatrical releases, Disney+ will probably ask for a one-time payment to access this exclusive content. Before making it freely available to all its subscribers by the end of August.
