Poltergeist, the horror classic

poltergeist

Poltergeist is a whole era, a classic among film classics horror. Of course, it is a bit out of fashion and we really do better nowadays. However, it remains a cornerstone of film culture for all those who are over 40 years old.

First, let's define what a Poltergeist is. For it is a real word. Derived from German, it means "striking spirit." The film exploits location to explain their appearance. Indeed, almost the entire film takes place behind closed doors, in an American suburban house. It is in a residential enclosure built on an old Indian burial ground. Hence the spirits...

At the beginning of the film, the facts are insignificant, a pot that moves, a door that slams. Enough to put us in the mood. Because we know at the beginning of the film, that all this will go crescendo. And this is not long in coming. The tenants then hire the services of a medium who will detect the presence of a demon, named the Beast. This one will do everything to take the family with her, by creating traps and by attacking them.

The film gradually reaches its climax until the moment when the house disappears into a rift towards another dimension.
