The Guilty, a thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal

The Guilty

The days of Brokeback Mountain and The Day After are long gone. Jake Gyllenhaal has come a long way. A contrasted path, made of masterpieces and films about which one remains more doubtful. However, he has not fallen into anonymity since Netflix offers since January 1, 2010, a new series of November a thriller where he plays the hero.

The Guilty is a remake of a Danish film released a few years ago and which will be released this 1er November. He plays Joe Baylor, an operator in an emergency call center. We know it, the job is not of any rest. But this day will be particularly significant... And he does not know it yet. While taking calls, he gets a call from a woman. She says she is a victim of a kidnapping and in great danger. With his helmet, he will try to save her.

The film is not without reminding other films of the genre and therefore does not escape the comparison. It does not escape some stereotypes of the genre either, but we will gladly forgive them! Especially since the casting does not leave much to be desired. Indeed, Netflix is not content here with a single star to pull the whole film, as it is sometimes the case. We also find Ethan Hawke and Peter Sarsgaard. Not to mention the many supporting roles, some of which we will recognize.

Note that the film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who is a director known for other action / thriller films, such as Training Day, the 7 Mercenaries or The Equalizer.

With The Guilty, expect a number of twists and turns, some of them totally unexpected.
