A few years ago, in 2018 precisely, La Catedral del Mar was released. Conceived as a mini-series, it recounted in a few episodes the life of Arnau Estanyol. The Heirs of the Earth, another novel by Ildefonso Falcones, is a sequel to this first work.
Plunged into medieval Barcelona, the child grows up alone, losing his parents at a young age. Arnau is hired as a laborer in the construction of the new cathedral (del Mar). Fortuitously, he manages to rise in society until he becomes an influential figure in the city. The betrayals go well on both sides during the whole series.
This new series takes up key elements, such as the Barcelona of the fourteenth century. Here, Hugo Llor is the hero. He is an orphan, a wanderer, whose dream of becoming a wine maker is stronger than anything. He will give up nothing to become who he wants to be. On the other hand, no one will do him any favors either.
In Heirs of the Earth, we find some of the characters from Catedral del Mar, such as Aitor Luna or Michelle Jenner from the Castamar's stove. Hugo is played by Yon Gonzalez, already seen in The telephone ladies.
Released a few days ago, the series is already a hit on the platform at tadam...
